Question : Arcserve error: E8535 Failed to receive data from the agent

Hello Experts!

We have CA Arcserve backup running.  Currently they fail with the following errors:

E8535 2010-06-24 05:39:19 Failed to receive data from the agent.

CA help suggests to do this:

1. Increase receiving and sending timeout settings from the registry key below.

\\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ComputerAssociates\CA ARCserve Backup\Base\Task\Remote

ReceiveTimeOut DWORD 3600

SendTimeOut DWORD 3600

2. Check the status of the network, and the CPU and network utilization of the target machine.

Modify the VSS browse timeout setting.
DWORD registry value for "BrowseVSSTimeOut" in
HKLM\Software\ComputerAssociates\CA ARCserve Backup\ClientAgent\Parameters

I have done both of these but I still have the same issues.  This is occuring on two servers when it backs up some SQL databases.  Its never the same database that it fails on.  I checked the application logs on the servers and this is what i see:

SQLVDI: Loc=SignalAbort. Desc=Client initiates abort. ErrorCode=(0). Process=1196. Thread=2756. Client. Instance=MSSQLSERVER. VD=Global\CA_BAB_MSSQL_1e9fa08_10001_2198718f_DischargeDEV_SQLVDIMemoryName_0.

BackupVirtualDeviceFile::ClearError:  failure on backup device 'CA_BAB_MSSQL_1e9fa08_10001_2198718f_DDev. Operating system error 995(error not found).

3041 :

SQLVDI: Loc=TriggerAbort. Desc=invoked. ErrorCode=(0). Process=1544. Thread=2668. Server. Instance=MSSQLSERVER. VD=Global\CA_BAB_MSSQL_1e9fa08_10001_2198718f_DischargeDEV_SQLVDIMemoryName_0.

18210 :
BackupVirtualDeviceFile::RequestDurableMedia: Flush failure on backup device 'CA_BAB_MSSQL_1e9fa08_10001_2198718f_DischargeDEV'. Operating system error 995(error not found).

Suggestions?

thanks in advance.

Answer : Arcserve error: E8535 Failed to receive data from the agent

You may try to save the Word document into a text file and parse it in VFP... You may also try to process the Word doc in some specialised processor like the Lua lpeg... Everything this means some programming and new tools learning.

So, the fastest way seems to be the pasting to Excel sheet and processing the XLS...
