Question : How do  I mount a partition in deft linux?

I need to find a good forensics live os to copy hard drives, view contents, and possibly look for intrusions. I have tried DEFT linux but can't mount the Fedora 12 partition on my laptop while running it. I have looked at products like raptor but can't get a good cd image and Deft was the only other one I found that didn't cost $1000+.
