Question : Migrate 2000 dc to 2008 dc
I am in the process of migrating my domain controller from an IBM win 2000 dc to a new Dell 2008 dc. I have read lots of material and I know I need to do the adprep, and dcpromo, yada, yada, yada. I just want to understand that by doing those migration programs, if all goes well, in the end all of fhe PC's will recognize the new DC and not the old. My biggest fear is that the domain will be broken and to fix it, I will have to go around to every pc and disjoin from the domain and then rejoin to the new domain. What a pain. Once finished with the migration, my new Dell 2008 will be the dc and the pc's will not know any difference. Correct?

Nothing will break at all as long as you follow the steps. Your PCs will be still part of your domain no matter what.
