Question : ESX 4.0 Does not detect onboard NIC

Hello Everybody,

Some time I had ask a question about H/W requirement to install ESX 4.0 at home PC.

I have bought Dell 580S desktop, while installing ESX 4.0 it does not detect the onboard NIC.

The DELL 580S uses Intel(R) H57 chip-set with on-board Integrated 10/100/1000 Ethernet LAN.

Is there any way I can provide the onboard NIC driver ?

Actual error message

"Network Driver failed to execute and the installation can not continue.

Details : No network adapter were detected either no network adapters are physically connected to the system, or a suitable driver could not be located.
A third party driver may be required.

ESX cannot be installed without a valid notwork adapter. Ensure that there is at least one network adapter physically connected to the system before attempting installation again. If the problem persist, consult vmware KB."

Answer : ESX 4.0 Does not detect onboard NIC

Has this desktop got a Broadcom network card?

It seems like the 580 is supported, but only if you install an Intel network card, as the Broadcom isn't:
