Question : Customizing Drupal theme - Reload not updated

I copied the Garland theme to build a new custom theme.

When I make changes to styles.css, I am FTPing them to /sites/all/themes/mynewtheme/

Then when I reload the page, my chages aren't reflected.

Using Firebug, I can see that the styles.css is located at "/sites/default/files/color/mynewtheme-30e9cdf8/style.css".

So, Drupal is pulling from a completely different place.  It took my new theme and is rendering it from somewhere else.  Not only that, but it's spawning new directories too.

Why aren't my updates being considered?  How do I kick it to use my updated file?  What am I missing?

George  ==>  connect the drive via a USB bridge device to another system and see what it "sees"

If you don't have one, this is an excellent one:   http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812232002&cm_re=vantec_USB_to_SATA-_-12-232-002-_-Product
