Question : Random Excel 2007 crashes

Hi,

I have 3 users out of 22 who consistently have problems with Excel crashing, it happens with all spreadsheets, regardless whether they're on the network or local disk. The pc's are Dell optiplex 745s  core 2 duos 2.66ghz with 4 gb ram running XP.

The common link between the users is that they all run the bloomberg excel addin. Every now and again Excel crashes are displays the generic " send error report to microsoft" error with the restart option checked.

I've checked the event viewer for office errors, which indicate some problems, but don't give clues to solution:

Office Diagnostics has determined that there is no evidence of repeated problems.
A crash has occurred. Office Diagnostics are running to determine whether there is evidence of repeated problems.
The default thresholds are being used.

ID: 1, Application Name: Microsoft Office Excel, Application Version: 12.0.6524.5003, Microsoft Office Version: 12.0.6425.1000. This session was terminated unexpectedly.

ID: 1, Application Name: Microsoft Office Excel, Application Version: 12.0.6524.5003, Microsoft Office Version: 12.0.6425.1000. This session lasted 2854 seconds with 360 seconds of active time.  This session ended with a crash.

All 3 pc's indicate similar problems.

So there's an indication of problems, but nothing that points to a solution.

Any ideas, thx

Answer : Random Excel 2007 crashes

I sure hope your problems go away!

NB: These are all generic trouble shooting steps that can fix general Excel startup/close problems.

I have put those together (with explanation) some time ago, see:
