Question : Symantec BackupExec 2010 VMware ESX 3.5 x64 guests fails with 'An attempt to take a snapshot of a virtual machine failed because it was unable to quiesce an application'

We have VMware ESX 3.5 servers.
When we do a backup with BackupExec 2010 installed on a W2003 x32 machine with VMware agents this fails. x32 hosts can be backupd.

Backup job with Virtual Machines hosted on VMWare ESX 3.5 may fail with 'An attempt to take a snapshot of a virtual machine failed because it was unable to quiesce an application' on Backup Exec 2010.

I openend a case at Symantec Entreprise support, but no results so far.

I did live-update from within BackuExec 2010.

I still have to do a VMware ESX 3.5 upgrade from patch 3 to patch 5.

Removed VMware tools and installed with and without VSS.

Not that I am aware of. I have never noticed any leaks on the projects it was used.
These projects were applications which ran fairly short, so memory leaks would go unnoticed most of the time.
