Question : Dell PE 2850, ESXi 4.0, 64bit guest VMs?
I have a Dell Power edge 2850 with two Intel Xeon 3.2Ghz processors.
I'm having problems installing 64bit guest VMs, 32bit install fine, but I need 64bit.
I know about the "Virtualization Technology" option in the bios, only it's not in the bios on the server!
Is there anything I can try? is there a bios flash I can do? is there and ESXi setting I can change?
Also, just to help the matter, the server is in a remote datacentre with limited remote hands.
Answer : Dell PE 2850, ESXi 4.0, 64bit guest VMs?
The 2850 will not support 64 bit virtual machines, the Xeon CPUs do not have Intel VT. I believe the 2950 series is the first one that did have the Intel VT technology CPUs
