Question : Exchange 2007 / 2010 OWA Tweaking

This question is two fold. First, what can be done to improve OWA performance / load time??? I've seen a thing called Application Warm Up, but it has little documentation. I feel that load times are pretty slow considering it has a dedicated hyper-v instance with 2048mb of ram and nothing else running. I know that all the default Exchange 2010 settings / app pools have been used with the install. I also noticed that compression is being used, but it doesn't seem to do much. Additionally, the main complaint is the time from when you request /owa/ to the time it is delivered. After that, things seem to run pretty smoothly. This is why I ask about Application Warm Up.

Second. Are there any other tweaks that can be made to dramatically improve Exchange performance while using hyper-v? I've played with all sorts of memory options, but it seems that using 1 processor (of 4) and 2048 of 8gb of ram is the best.

Thanks!!!

Answer : Exchange 2007 / 2010 OWA Tweaking

There is actually improvements in the speed of OWA for Exchange 2010 as part of Exchange 2010 Service Pack 1 which we are expecting later this year.

It has been recognised as an issue and they are working on it.

I would also recommend a minimum of 4GB of RAM for any Exchange 2010 role.
