Question : Is BO XI and BO edge BI 3.1 the same product?

I am trying to download a BO XI trial versionl in sap's website, but can not find it. I just found bo edge bi 3.1.  what is the difference between them?

No they are not. BO XI is 5 years old and edge3.1 is only a year or so. Edge is what is referred to as the solution for small to mid size company that want use BO. It includes Crystal, Infoview, and Universes, and Webi to name a couple. BO XI does not include universes and webi but I believe is only Infoview and maybe Crystal.
