Intermittent problem, computer will run for as long as two weeks with no problem, then suddenly when the power button is pushed to start the computer you can hear the fans turning the computer will not boot. nothing appears on the screen, no beep codes, and the diagnostic lights 1 3 and 4 are lite but 2 is off . I ran the onboard diagnostics and found everything passed. scanned for viruses and found none. last time the problem appeared the computer was put into sleep mode but could not be brought out. the power button was held down until the computer shutoff and then the above problem once again occurred. Not my computer so my understanding is this is not always the case - it does not always appear after being put into sleep mode. any suggestions or help would be appreciated

Answer : dell XPS 420 failure to boot

Hi,

I’ve since fixed this problem with internet access. Turns out that I forgot to add the routing role, which provides support for NAT and LAN routing etc.  This is why I was unable to connect to the internet on the client machines.
