Question : Exchange ActiveSync query

Hey All
We are running Exchange 2007 SP1.
I know with Blackberry Enterprise Server, the BES only sends the first 2k of data to a BB to save on bandwidth. Only if the user requests more data is more transmitted (and even this is compressed).
Does anyone know if ActiveSync does the same thing?
And how does ActiveSync handle attachments? Are the full attachments sent over always, or only if the user specifically attempts to read it?
