Question : Network capacity between two endpoints

Hello,

I administer several Windows servers and sometimes I need to know the network connection's speed between two hosts (e.g. a DB server and a Backup Storage server). Is there any portable app (or client/server app) that is able to measure this?
I was trying to search on google but all I get is websites that measure my internet connection speed.

well it depends on wich operating system the endpoint are running. if thy are all windows/windows server you can use http://download.cnet.com/LAN-Speed-Test/3000-2085_4-10908738.html it's freeware, it simply copy a file froma A to B and measure speed.
while testing the network segment must be as more as possible inactive,(eg. no backup running.)
