Question : XP user settings transfer

Hello all,
I have a client that is using Windows XP Pro SP2 on all PCs hooked up to a W2K3 AD domain.  One of the users retired.  They want to put another person at her desk.  I want to create a new user on this PC and transfer all user settings from the old user to the new user.  I do not want to have to recreate everything (mapped drives, transfer Outlook pst file, etc.) by hand.  Is there a slick automated way to do this?
Thanks,
Kelly W.

Answer : XP user settings transfer

This will do the job.

1) create the new user. (IE John)
2) log in as that user
3) reboot.
4) Log in as an administrator
5) Rename the new user account as something else. You could add ".old" to the end
6) Rename the retired user's profile to the same as the new user's profile. IE When you created a new user, if the profile was called John, rename the retired user's profile to John.
7) Go into the securities and add the new user to have full rights to that profile. Let it propagate to child objects.
8) Log in as the new user. You will then need to attach the PST, and setup email, but it will be there.

You could also copy the data. Here is an article on that.http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811151
Ignore that it is talking about corrupt profiles.
