Question : Simple File Sharing Question
I have a small disagreement with a fellow tech regarding file sharing. I like to keep my shared folders in a folder called shares, just to keep things organized (Example: d:\Shares\Apps). His argument is that when you nest the folders it slows down access to that folder over the network due to the permissions applied to the parent folders. He says that the permission for all folders down the chain are verified, as well as the permission applied directly to the folder. From what I understand when a shared folder is accessed over the network, only the share permissions and the NTFS permissions applied directly to the shared folder are taken into account, and not the parent folders, thus not slowing down access.
So, who is right?

then there wont be any problems .. the speed will be the same irespective of the location..
