Question : Windows Search 4. Prevent Windows Search 4 from cataloguing Internet Explorer's history.

By default, Window Search permits IE8 to make a catalogue of its, IE8's, history. There is no setting within Windows Search to prevent this, despite what is said in this article:

http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/windowsdesktopsearchdevelopment/thread/c43495a7-802d-433b-a59e-07517710acad.

"Internet Explorer History" does not exist as a checkable item under Modify.

I can find nothing within IE8's settings to prevent it from connecting with Windows Search, either.

There may be a registry item that can be changed. If so, I would be keen to know of it. That, or any other suggestion, will be very welcome.

This IE8 cataloguing function does not use up a lot of resources. If IE8 is not running and its own history files have been cleared, the history collation function does not appear in Search. However, its existence, when IE8 is running, is a very irritating feature, especially if you use Search only for one or two very specific jobs (I use it only to index Outlook). Apparently, the feature is also the cause of web address suggestions appearing as you type an address into IE8. These muddy the view and distract. So, I am looking for a way of gettig rid of what is basically an annoyance!

This is my second attempt in EE to find the solution. I have given the query maximum points, this time. Here's hoping!

Answer : Windows Search 4. Prevent Windows Search 4 from cataloguing Internet Explorer's history.

I would try the .mouseChildren property, set it to false.
