Question : Server 2008 DNS Resolution Issue

Hi Experts,
I've got 2 Windows 2008 Domain controllers.  Both are GC's on the domain, I've also got a RODC across a WAN connection in a different subnet.  All the workstations in our location look at DC1 and DC2 and not at the RODC.(it's just there for disaster recovery)

The DCs are looking at themselves as primary and each other as secondary.  There is no DNS forwarding, just using root hints.

Now the problem is when I reboot DC1, DNS on the workstations stops working.  I don't get any messages in the error log on either DC or the workstation.  If I do a nslookup on the workstation with DC1 down, it only seems to query the DC1 and has a DNS request timed out on secondary lookup...any ideas?  Or is there a better way to set this up?

Thanks!

Changed with one of the later XP service packs. NsLookup will only try the Preferred DNS server. It will not attempt to resolve using additional DNS servers.
