Question : Cannot find Domain Controller while trying to join the domain

Hello,

I have a newly installed Windows 2003 server that has Active Directly Services installed as a Primary Domain Controller (the only one in this small network).  It also has DNS configured when installing AD via dcpromo, but I cannot get machines to connect to the domain.  I get this error when I run the command: netdiag /fix

DNS test . . . . . . . . . . . . . : Failed

            'gandgllcsvr1.gandgservicesllc.local.'. [ERROR_TIMEOUT]

It appears that I need to set the Authoritive DNS server on the Windows 2003 server... how do I do that?

Please help!

Answer : Cannot find Domain Controller while trying to join the domain

Do you have a forward lookup zone for your Active Directory domain name?
(From ADU&C)
If not, create one. And set it to allow dynamic updates.

Does your AD Domain name match you Primary DNS suffix in your ipconfig /all?
If not see:

also see here, it's for both 2000 and 2003:
