Question : Setup SQL Server replication

I want to setup a way to sync a compect sql file with a regular sql server, I tried the wizard but I keep on getting the same error:
"SQL Server replication requires the actual server name to make a connection to the server. Connections through a server alias, IP address, or any other alternate name are not supported. Specify the actual server name, 'PC2\SQL_2005'. (Replication.Utilities)"

in fact I do use the local name I'm not connecting via a ip.

on the other hand is there a better way to sync the databases? it looks like the setup will be very complicated with this.
