Question : Exchange swing migration, problems with first  mail box moved unable to send external email

Following the article below:

Looking at migrating Windows 2003 Exchange across to another server (VMware) the existing server is also a domain controller.

Installed windows 2003 and exchange 2003 including all updates and patches. Able to replicate public folders, the items either side tally up.

The problem I have is that I have moved one users mailbox across to the new server, the user is unable to send out external email. He can receive both internal and external, and send internal.

The message received is:-

The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:

***external email address*** on 07/07/2010 12:59
You do not have permission to send to this recipient.  For assistance, contact your system administrator.
< *** name of new server *** #5.7.1 smtp;550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for ***external email address***

Although I have not migrated my exchange across, should moved mail box’s still operate including access via rpc over https?

Answer : Exchange swing migration, problems with first  mail box moved unable to send external email

After reviewing the document you linked to, yes, you should be able to send if you are following their procedure and did so thoroughly and accurately. My first guess is that a setting or settings were not properly duplicated on the SMTP virtual servers.
