Question : Exchange 2007 restore question
Hi,
I'm putting together a strategy for deleting redundant mailboxes in our Exchange 2007(SP2) environment. I have backed up the Information Store to tape using Backup Exec (11d) and successfully restored a mailbox database back to the RSG on the mailbox server. I can successfully restore e-mails back but I'm looking for a way to restore an entire mailbox if the mailbox has actually been deleted (the AD account has been disabled but still exists). So far, the only way I can find to get the mailbox back is into an existing mailbox using restore-mailbox with a target folder. I have also tried moving the mailbox from the RSG, which fails, although I do seem to remember reading something about not being able to move a mailbox into or out of an RSG. The only other way that I have found to do it is to create an empty mailbox and restore the mailbox back to it and editing AD so that the GUID of the mailboxes are the same, which is something that I don't really want to do.
Is there a simple way or simply restoring a mailbox back once it's been deleted?
Thanks in advance
