Question : SBS 2008 Folder Redirection

Hello Everyone,

I just recently setup SBS 2008 Standard. Everything went failry well with no real drama except now while trying to redirect the folders.

I have been reading about this for the past several hours, but I still cannot find a solution that works for me.

I enabled Folder Redirection on my user account, logged into a virtual machine running XP Pro, connected to the network and TAADAAH, the folder was redirected. No fuss, no muss.

I then go to one of the other PCs on the network and check her machine and it did not redirect her files.

The policy is enabled and running, both of us are members of the SBS Folder Redirect Group, both are running Windows XP w/the CSE. I know this works because my GPO for the drive mapping is working fine.

I have logged into her machine about a dozen times, ran gpupdate /force half a dozen times and still can't get it to see the GP and execute it.

Am I missing something? I just can't seem to find why it's not syching her folder.

The only thing that was different is I joined my PC to the domain (http://connect) after the policy was in effect. Her PC was joined yesterday but still used http://connect. Shouldn't logging back in run the policy thus leading to her folder redirection??

Oh, and I reboot about 3 or 4 times, but still nothing.

Thanks!

Joe Barbone

Answer : SBS 2008 Folder Redirection

Can you run a gpresult from the client machine in question and see if the folder redirection policy is actually being applied? Also folder redirection can be a little goofy especially as it pertains to folder names, user names, etc.. Check the event logs on the client machine to see if it mentions something about it failing to redirect.
