Question : XP Pro Workstation Boot times

We have an XP Pro /SP 3 we have created a new user login for.  When we login with this persons login info the screen says loading personal settings, but takes almost 5 minutes to get to the desktop.

When it finally loads the desktop there are no more performance issues.

On the same workstation if we login with the previous users profiles it takes seconds.  We need to keep the old user profile on this workstation.

This workstation has a network login, but we are not booting from the network.

that is usually a good sign your DNS is setup wrong.

make sure your dns points to your active directory server and then use the netdiag tools from Microsoft on the server to make sure your DNS is configured correctly.

you can also check the new user to see if ROAMING profile is turned on,  this could cause it slow down.
