Question : Sound not working ?

Using Windows 7 ultimate 64.
My sound stopped working. It is not the speakers as I test them and they are working fine. When I look into Sound in Control Panels everything seems to indicate that it's working, but still no sound. Volume levels are set to the highest. How do I troubleshoot this ?  Initially it was connected to a USB Audigy and when I stopped hearing sound I remove it to eliminate it being the culprit but even thought the sound now points to the MB it still don't work.

Do the following...
- Check Device Manage to ensure that there are no issues with the sound device
- Check the event viewer to see if there is any errors that might relate to the sound card
- Try plugging in some headphones to see if you can get sounds through them.
- Open the device manager and uninstall the sound card and reinstall
- Try downloading the latest driver for the sound card and reinstall
