Question : NTBACKUIP and RSM
If I am backing up to a removable HD or even a network share, does the RSM service need to be running in order to perform a backup or is it only required for tape media? The reason I ask is I don't see any entries under MEDIA or MEDIA POOLS in RS but I am receiving RMS Event ID 15 errors in the Event Viewer regarding Tape0 (no tapes are being used).
I'd like to disable RSM.
Thanks!
Answer : NTBACKUIP and RSM
the rsm service is usually started automatically by NTbackup as necessary so it doesnt matter if its running or not.
As for the error, do you get that during a backup or at random times?
