Question : In Symantec Backup Exec 2010, how can I take a look at a failed backup job to determine exactly what has backed up (so I can know the exact point where the backups fail)?

In Symantec Backup Exec 2010, how can I take a look at a failed backup job to determine exactly what has backed up (so I can know the exact point where the backups fail)?

I have set up a full backup to occur on Wednesday and on all the other nights for various sorts of incremental and differential backups to occur.

These backups always partially complete (there are around 30 2 GB files that appear in the backup destination folder) but then the backups encounter a problem and I receive an email saying that the backup job has failed.

I have determined that the most likely causes of the backups failing is because the backups always reach a certain part of the backup routine and then encounter corrupt data that completely halts the backup and therefore causes the entire backup job to fail.

I have adjusted different settings, including adjusting using the Advanced Open File option settings, but the backups continue to fail.

So, how can I take a look at a particular backup job to determine at exactly which point the backups are failing (and therefore causing the backup job to not be able to finish)?

Please refer to the following article.

What information is available in the Backup Exec Job Log files?

You can also verify what was backed up by opening a restore job window and browsing the backup set either by VIEW BY MEDIA or VIEW BY RESOURCE.
