Question : editting WORD field in mail merge

I am a bit stumped.  I have a typical letter text with a data file in excel.  I have added a WORD field - if..then..else.

This works OK - but I find that I cannot edit it.  In the text file, if I click in the area of the inserted text, the whole insert area turns grey.  Then a right mouse click shows some options but edit field is greyed out.

I just cannot figure out a way of editting the information that I have entered for the if..then..else command.  I just have to delete and start again - risking making a small typo again!!

Can anyone suggest what I am missing.

Answer : editting WORD field in mail merge

Hello Richard,

hit Alt-F9 to display the field contents in the gray fields. You should see the {IF {field} = "condition" "action1" "action2" } and should be able to edit there.

Hit Alt-F9 again to toggle back, then right-click the field and select "update field".
