Question : a tool to Trace route a packet over SMTP

I am able to tracert a packet to our email server. however how can I trace route a packet by defining port number or protocol such as SMTP?

because I would like to send out a packet over SMTP from port 25 and trace it. I need this because my firewall converts traffic based on protocol and send it to different ISPs

You can use a tool such as LANSpy to confirm that the port on the destination server is open & reachable.
There is a nifty little tool called tracetcp, which has the same functionality as tracert, but allows you to go beyond ICMP & define the TCP port.
