Question : Wireless not showing on unsecured wirelless on a Macbook

I am having a weird issue with my Black Macbook A1181 connecting to a unsecured wireless where it does not show on my list.  First of all, it sees other unsecured wireless in other locations but not on this particular one.  I think I have all updates done.
What is bothering me is that if I go to "About this mac" and click on "more info",  when you click on the "Airport", it shows you all available routers that are in range.  There, I can see the router I am trying to connect but does not show up at all.  It would be different if I see and cannot connect, but I see nothing at all.
I have Snow Leaport 10.6.4, it's a macbook A1181 with 2 Gig of memory.

The macbook sees from what I can tell, but does not show up.

Anyone knows how to fix this?

as a suggestion maybe try something like airradar http://www.koingosw.com/products/airradar.php during the time when youre having issues and check if the network is detected. It could be an interference issue - i understand that its working on other machines but thats the problem with WIFI - its shared and unreliable.
