Question : Can on exchange 2003 priv1.edb and priv.stm be on diffenent drives

Can on exchange 2003 priv1.edb and priv.stm be on different drives  

We have a exchange 2003 server which is low on space I have created a extra drive on our San and have added it to to the host server
I would like to leave priv1.edb on one drive and move the priv1.stm data to the new drive is this a good idea ?

there is a section in there

"The .stm or streaming media file is used in conjunction with the .edb file to comprise the Exchange database. Both files together make up the database, and as such, they should always be treated as a single entity. "

so as far as i know they have to be on the same drive.
