Question : Consequences of deleting the default Administrator account for the Active Directory domain
We setup a Windows 2003 Active Directory Domain many years ago.
By default, there is an account, Administrator, that is in the Domain Admin group, Schema Admin group, etc.
We changed the password to something complex, stored the information away, and never used it.
Our audit dept is requiring that each person have a unique domain admin account (which we already have). We've kept this default Administrator account active "just in case" ... the password is known by a few ... but used by no one ... so I am considering what will happen if we delete it.
Has anyone already battle-tested a solution for this? What is the best practice?
