Question : uxtheme.dll renamed itself

Hi there,
I was solving a problem on someone's PC with the uxtheme.dll file. It was not missing but it had renamed itself touxtheme.dll~RF17bfc5.tmp.

I renamed it back to uxtheme.dll in the XP recovery console and it seems to have fixed the problem.

What I would like to know is how to prevent it happening again as we are not sure how it happened in the first place.
