Question : Difference between using file sharing under a Home Network and a Work Network????
We have a small LAN in our office connecting four computers, an NAS and two Laser Printers. One of the Laser Printers can scan documents to a network folder residing on my computer. Now it would be great if this folder could be accessed from my collegues computers as well. We are all running Windows 7 - 64-bit Enterprise edition. As we have been suggested a number of solutions, I would be happy to get some views from you Experts!!!
Some say that the easiest for us is to share this "Scanning folder" by using the Windows 7-feature Homegroup as we all are going to have equal access to it. We would then, if I am not mistaken, have to change networks settings to "Home network".
Others says that we should stick with "Work network" and just share the folder by right clicking it and choose "everyone". But could anyone who connects to our workgroup then get access to the folder???
Well, some clarifications on this issue would be most appriciated!!!
Are we loosing anything by choosing "Home network" instead of "Work network" in our case???
Answer : Difference between using file sharing under a Home Network and a Work Network????
I'd put the folder on the NAS which I assume is already shared and accessable by all the users.
