Question : SBS 2008 reporting shows wrong amount of sent emails

SBS Report

We have a pretty strange situation with one of our customers. On a daily base a report is being created by SBS 2008 STD.
One report shows the amount of e-mail which is sent and received and the total size of the email. We have discovered that
the SBS 2008 report is showing the wrong amount. For example, one user who has not been in the office shows up in the report which indicates that he has created 9 messages.

That user had no access to his mailbox and didn't create any mail at all (mobile devices are not enabled) When we run Microsoft Exchange Message Tracking Center it seems that the specific user hasn't send any email during the start and end date. There is no forwarding of email for the user.

Who is wrong? The SBS 2008 Report or the Microsoft Exchange Message Tracking Center?

Please help!

Answer : SBS 2008 reporting shows wrong amount of sent emails

That's because [email protected] didnt send it :-)

These are spam messages from outside.
SMTP headers can be spoofed to make it look-like [email protected] - is sending these messages.

I will send you a link on how to fix that.

What anti-spam solution are you using ?
if you are not using anything right now, please consider VamSoft ORF. it will prevent these kinda situations from happening again.

There is a 30 day trial. and it costs $239 per server (much cheaper than paying it per mailbox).

thanks
