Question : Raid 1 Rebuild Failed - Adaptec 1210SA

I have an Adaptec 1210sa card in a machine running Windows Server 2003 configured in Raid 1 with two identical Seagate Barracuda 160 GB HD's.  The Adaptec Storage Manager showed the status of the raid as degraded:  <Failed drive: controller 1, port 1>   I replaced the failed drive in port 1 with a brand new Barracuda 160 GB HD.  Through the Adaptec Storage Manager I selected <create hot spare> and <rebuild drive>.  The rebuilding process starts and runs for approx 30 minutes.  At approx 19% complete the rebuilding stops.  The first error message is <Failed drive: controller 1, port 1> followed immediately by <Rebuild failed: controller 1, logical device 1 ("tst") [18]>

Could there be a problem with the Adaptec 1210SA?

Could there be a problem with the "good" drive in port 0 and the same errors are being mirrored to the new drive in port 1?

Under <Logical Devices> it lists the Raid 1 as degraded.  It does give me options to a) initialize, b)verify or c) verify with fix.  Will any of these choices help me without risk of losing data from the good drive in port 0?

  1. Perform a search on the Start Menu for “indexing”. In the results, click on “Indexing Options”.
   2. With “Indexing Options” open, click on the “Advanced” button.
   3. Click on the “File Types” tab and scroll down the list until you see php in the Extension column.
   4. Click on php to select it, then select the radio button below that reads “Index Properties and File Contents”.
   5. Click OK. Click Close.
   6. Restart your computer.

Search within PHP files

Now when you perform a search for a word, you will be able to click “Search in File Contents” and it will search all the text inside of the PHP files and return results for your query. That’s all there is to it.
