Question : Gateway SA1 shutting down intermittently

I have a customer's laptop, a Gateway SA1, that will start up, allow the user to log on, then shut down. Actually it doesn't even shut down, it just shuts off completely without logging the user out, going through the Windows shut down, etc. Just shuts off. I've taken the laptop completely apart, reseated all connections to the board, reseated the processor, replaced the processor trying another in it's place, nothing has worked. I've set the laptop on its side with the bottom piece off to allow the fan to get air more directly to see if that would help, and it has not. I'm almost positive it's an overheating problem, but I'm not sure what else can be done. Would just the fan need replaced? The fan still spins normal, no awkward activity there. Or could it possibly be the board itself?

Answer : Gateway SA1 shutting down intermittently

If you post your current config (please sanitize it to remove passwords etc) you will probably get more accurate help than this.

There can be a few different reasons for this. Most probably it is not the creation of a configuration group that kills the l2l-tunnel but the way it is applied.
* Your remote-vpn is probably configured with a dynamic crypto map which is applied to the static crypto map. Make sure that this dynamic crypto map has a higher sequense number in the static crypto map than the sequense number used by your static tunnel.
* If you are using preshared-key add the "no-xauth"-keyword at the end of the "crypto isakmp key"-command to make sure that your l2l-tunnel isnt xauthed (asked for username/password).
