Question : I cannot change the ownership and rights of a folder, access denied

I have a harddrive from a defective PC and attached that harrdrive to my own working Windows 7 computer. To OS on the the defective drive is Windows XP.
Ik would like to backup the data from within de profile in documents and settings, but I get an access denied error. Even when I try to change ownership or permissions I get this error message. Does anyone know how to work around this problem, perhaps with a tool that brute force fixes the permissions?

Answer : I cannot change the ownership and rights of a folder, access denied

Ok that makes this harder then, sec explorer is a tool which goes beyond the regular NTFS permissioning screen, not used it on win 7 before and not sure how that will transgress through from 7 to xp but it wont hurt from where you are now and shoudl allow you as long as logged on with admin to overwrite and force permissions down from root of drive

give that a go and let me know how you get on, if that doesnt work there are other things that can be done but may require a data transfer kit
