Question : Identifying SqlServer file

Hello experts,
I am just a novice when it comes to SqlServer Express. I was given a file that had no extension and was told it's an SqlServer database that I can run on the server by using restore.

As far as I know restore is used to restore backup files. So I added the extension .bak to the file and placed it in the Backup folder of SqlServer express (2010). However when I tried to use the restore command by right-clicking on the database folder and selecting restore the file was not displayed with other files that had the .bak extension.
Is there some thing else I can try.......??
Thank you

SBS likes to have everything done with a wizard. If you create the users with the console or users and computers wizard, they will appear under the users. If you manually create them with Active Directory users and computers they will not show up in the console.
