A lot of stores sell a "Comcast Self Install Kit".
What this is, is a disk and a modem and all the wires needed to get it setup. You would go home an hook it up yourself, then run the software which will connect you to comcast servers to sign up for service. Its simple and takes about 10 minutes to be up and running.
Best Buy, Staples, Office MAX and Walmart all carry the self install kits around here (NJ).
