I need to know what is the platform or environment that this software has been developed,
or at least I need to know if this software developed under visual studio .net environment, or vb6 environment,

is there any technique to know that?

No way you can install updates by downloads for only 2 resons

1st Microsoft must Validiate you windows copy before installing updates ( youe windows must be activated )

2nd this updates are avilieble only on microsoft servers you can't connect to it directly
you connect to updates servers by 2 ways ( windows itself - WSUS server )

so install windows and software then update it later
some antivirus by the way can be updated offline like Eset there is offline updater for them
