Question : Migrate Active Directory Username from SBS 2003 to 2008 Standard

Hi,

I am faced with upgrading the server infrastructure at a particular site. I am mainly faced with the problem of having a large number of users on a Server 2003 SBS server. I am moving toward a Windows Server 2008 (completely new domain). I have seen the "LDIFDE" command toolset and was wondering whether this would be appropriate to export the current usernames from the SBS Server and then re-import into the 2008 AD DS?

Alternativly is there a better way to do this?

Thank you.

Answer : Migrate Active Directory Username from SBS 2003 to 2008 Standard

Ben - in this scenario using CSVDE would be a good approach. since AD & DNS are in an error state you will have to fix them if you plan to use either ADMT as well as SBS migration with an answer file.
also it could save a lot of time depending upon how badly the AD is in.

you might also want to use robocopy for copying the users directories from the server, as well as USMT for profiles depending upon the w/s
