Hyper Terminal v. 6.1 (Build 7600) running on Windows 7 Professional most often closes after clicking on File and then Open-How can I fix this?

Since Windows 7 doesn't have Hyper Terminal, I followed the instructions I found on a website to copy the Hypertrm.exe and Hypertrm.dll files from a Windows XP computer to the Windows 7 computers.

The Hyper Terminal program launches without any problems, but then whenever I click on File and then Open, Hyper Terminal will simply close. Hyper Terminal does this about 9 out of every 10 times. Then 1 out of every 10 times, Hyper Terminal will open a Windows Explorer window (that displays a list of the saved Hyper Terminal files) and will allow the user to double click on whichever file she needs in order to establish a modem connection to a remote network.

When I try to run the Hypertrm.exe file in compatibility mode for previous operating systems (such as Windows XP or Windows 2000), Hyper Terminal does the exact same thing.

I think this issue has to do with the fact that Hyper Terminal for Windows XP isn't fully compatible to run with Windows 7.

What can I do to fix this issue so that I can run Hyper Terminal without any problems in Windows 7?
