Question : How can I enable a USB HID device in Window 7 ultimate I have a Serial to USB cable and device (SmartBoard 540)

I have a SmartBoard 540 and was told that I could purchase a $30+ dollar Serial to USB device. I was looking at the pdf from SmartTech and they say I would need an HID driver installed. See doc
http://downloads01.smarttech.com/media/sitecore/en/support/bulletins/2001-16revcsmartusbadaptercable.pdf
I found the driver hid.dll and pid.dll.
When I check under Device Manager i see no USB HID devices installed nor did the device get installed Smart Board when I restarted.. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to connect this device serial to USB in Windows 7 Ultimate?

Also I noticed when I went to device manager and scanned for hardware changes I noticed that we have two new devices not being recognized. I was surprised to see the PCI serial port not recognized.

Any support is greatly appreciated.

they are both ports of logj. Go with whatever you are comfortable with. log4cxx might be a bit cumbersome to link and build using Visual Studio but once you get over the initial hiccups you are good to go.

Check the respective webpages since they could end up being not updated in quite a while. log4cxx usage requires that you use the correct working version of files, that is if there any later versions at all....

Here's a good article on log4cplus
