Question : window 2000 program menu

I wanted to create a shortcut to the desktop so I dragged the app icon for a program to the desktop from the program menu reached from the start menu.  After I did that the program icon was no longer in the program menu tab.  How to I get it back or add items to menu tabs for that matter? In Windows 2000 when youare logged on as an administrator or member of the admin group and you drag the icon from the menu, W2k "presumes" that you are doing a "move" and not a create shortcut. To restore your app to the menu
1. right click on the START
2. go to either properties or settings
3. select start menu
4. locate your application and double click on it.
