Question : Adding additional storage to an ESXi server
I have an IBM x3650 that has 6 drive bays. Initially, I had only two bays populated with 750GB drives in RAID1. On this I installed ESXi 4.0 and configured several VM's. Needing more space, I added four more 750's to the remaining bays, configuring them as a separate RAID5 for 2TB's of storage.
When I go into the vSphere client to add a second datastore, it finds it correctly showing a 2TB capacity but once I add it, only 47.59GB is available. It also says the hard disk is blank. They were blank when I created the array so I know there is nothing there. Anyone have an idea what I may have done wrong?
Answer : Adding additional storage to an ESXi server
You need to create datastore with slightly less then 2TB..it's 2TB-512MB. Try creating a datastore that is 1.99TB in size
