Question : how do i perform reinstallation of Windows 7 after upgrading from xp to window 7

I would guess that virus threats remain about the same under windows 7 as XP causing occasional reloading of the Windows 7 O/S. If I purchase a Windows 7 upgrade and I am upgrading from XP, what is the procedure involved if reinstallation of Windows 7 is necessary? Surely you would not have to first reload XP and then upgrade again, would you?
