Question : URGENT:  #2002 - The server is not responding (or the local MySQL server's socket is not correctly configured)

Did a portupgrade last night and now the server is reporting:

#2002 - The server is not responding (or the local MySQL server's socket is not correctly configured)

Please help

Answer : URGENT:  #2002 - The server is not responding (or the local MySQL server's socket is not correctly configured)

I rebooted the machine and all is working now.
