I would like to learn how to Admin and Develop in SharePoint 2010.
What's the best approach to setting up my own environment at home? What exactly to I need to purchase?
This will be on a Windows 7, 64-bit machine

Install an 64 bit operating system on it. Preferably a trial version of Server 2008, though Windows 7 x64 should do it.
Download the trial sharepoint package from teh link above and install that on the O/S.
Learn SharePoint.
Done.
