Question : Problems with password recovery and factory default reset on my catalyst 4006 switch

Hello im trying to do a password recovery and factory default reset on my catalyst 4006 switch and tryed following this guide.... http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps663/products_password_recovery09186a00800945f7.shtml
But I can't really opperate the rommon promt. When i try to issue the confrag command i just get this errormessage.

rommon 1 >confreg
confreg: Command not found.

I tryed to force it with this command:

rommon 2 >confreg=2142

It somewhat worked I don't have to enter any password anymore but now the factory default is not working. The first command I should do is at stage 5 in the guide above where I should run configure memory command or the copy startup-config running-config but all i get is more stuff not working for me....

Is there something wrong with my startupfile? how do i recreate it if that is the problem?
