Question : out of office auto attendant for outlook 2003

I have setup an auto attendant for outlook 2003 that is using a POP account instead of Exchange.  It has been working fine but the client updated the template that outlook uses and now it will only reply to the first email outlook receives after it is opened up and then stop working.  I have done the steps in the link below.

Suppose problem is in transport. Switch back to Exchange transport and autoreply in Outlook shoul working properly
